Revaler Str. Berlin

In the intersection area at Warschauer Brücke, the urban space in the city centre is being redensified with the resumption of the historic block structure. A robust plinth made of exposed concrete forms the foundation for the upper floors and the foyer for the supermarket. With its wrap-around balconies and powerfully structured metal façade, the timber hybrid building with outdoor seating opens out onto the street, giving it a communicative workshop character. While the building restores the block structure on the outside, it encloses a green oasis with cascading gardens on the inside, which offer a microclimatic enhancement in the urban space. The complex building staggering creates flexible floor plans for creative working environments with garden terraces as recreational and meeting spaces. A green promenade connects the public street space with the foyer and leads via a green staircase to the roof garden – a contemplative island above the city.
