Humboldt Höfe Berlin

The “Humboldt Höfe” building complex extends from Oranienburger Straße across two inner courtyards to Johannisstraße, creating a building with surprising spatial contrasts, vistas and generous roof terraces inside the historic block. On Oranienburger Strasse, a minimalist glass façade contrasts with the historic cityscape. From here, a central foyer extends deep into the block, staggering from ground floor level via an atrium up to the terraces. On Johannisstraße, an existing building that is part of the MBA Spandauer Vorstadt area monument was dismantled down to its façade and rebuilt while retaining the original building geometry. Its historic façade was restored, reconstructed and integrated into the new building in accordance with the preservation order.
