More information about the exhibition
School construction in Germany is facing great challenges. The number of pupils is rising steadily, especially in the conurbations, and all forecasts indicate that population growth will continue in the coming years. For this reason, new school buildings, including school extensions and refurbishments, are currently one of the central themes of the investment policy of the federal states. In Berlin alone, new rooms for around 70,000 additional pupils will be needed by the 2024/25 school year. To this end, around 5.5 billion euros will be made available between 2017 and 2026 for the renovation and/or expansion of existing buildings and for around 40 new school buildings.
To mark this current occasion, the exhibition at the Aedes Architecture Forum, initiated and curated by Beate Engelhorn, shows twelve examples of contemporary school buildings from Europe that are exemplary for the implementation of current educational and urban planning models. The exhibition will be introduced by a two-day opening conference with numerous expert contributions from Germany and abroad.
Monday, 24 June, 2 – 6.15 p.m. and Tuesday, 25 June, 10.00 – 6.30 p.m.
