In March 1998, the BDA Group Kassel founded an architectural centre in the Kulturbahnhof Kassel: the “KAZimKUBA”, which is run on a voluntary basis as a non-profit association. KAZimKUBA’ offers a public forum for dealing with topics of architecture and planning – building culture – and contributes to raising public awareness of the built environment and demanding quality.
In 2017, the 14th documenta exhibition will take place in Kassel for 100 days from 10 June to 17 September 2017, with the special feature that this time it will have a pre- and parallel run from 8 April to 16 July in Athens. The documenta is considered the most important exhibition of contemporary art, attracting an international audience every 5 years. Already at Documenta11 in 2002, documenta 12 in 2007 and doCUMENTA (13) in 2012, the KAZimKUBA was presented with the exhibition’architectdocuments’; results can be viewed on the website.
The ‘KAZimKUBA’ will be back again in 2017. At architectdocuments 4, internationally renowned architects will be presenting their reflections on EUROPA in connection with architecture and urban development for 100 days, making reference to the documenta 14 motto’Learning from Athens’: A surprising interplay of different exhibits, playful, cheerful, serious and less serious, ironic, profound.
