Marthashof Berlin

On a former vacant lot in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district, the Marthashof Residential Development reacts to the diversity of urban lifestyles and communities with a wide range of apartment types and sizes and open spaces. The residential buildings are positioned along the property’s three boundaries, enclosing a publicly accessible communal courtyard that opens toward the street and serves as the green heart of the neighbourhood. The Kulturhaus am Mauerpark, situated opposite the development, forms the spatial end-point of the ensemble. Diverse lines of sight and a variety of private outdoor spaces, oriented both toward the common areas in the centre of the ensemble and toward the more protected courtyards at the rear of the buildings and adjacent buildings, connect the quarter to the organic structure of the surrounding city as a new urban module.
